It’s Thursday October 25th, 2001 at 5:30 PM and we are preparing for battle in 37 degree weather with wind gust of 30 mph. Is this the frozen tundra of Lambau Field? No, it’s the “Mighty Spartans” going against the “Awesome Hoosiers”.  At 6pm the captains meet at the 40-yd line. We win the toss and elect to receive. The Spartans get set as the Hoosiers kick. It’s short and “Big Nick R.” hustles to the ball and scampers to the 15-yd line, putting the Spartans in great field position. First play QB (Eric C.) hands off to the “ Sparkplug” (Mitchell D.) for a right side sweep. Mitchell dances inside the 5-yd line, Thanks to the awesome blocking by Jordan M., Jake L., Jesse C., Nick R., Tad W., Drew L., and Nathan G.! On the second play the hand-off goes to the “Speedster” (Ryan H.) for a sweep to the left. Ryan races for the sideline and then cuts up field for the score. The extra point attempt; a reverse to “The Animal” (Jacob G.) gets stopped due to a miscue on the hand-off. The remaining first half was a defensive struggle with the mighty Spartans holding off the Hoosiers. Some awesome flags by Bryan K., Drew L., Max R., Nathan G., RJ G., & Tyler H.! The second half started with the Spartans Jesse “The Foot” kicking off a bomb to the Hoosiers. The Hoosiers broke some big plays to the outside but the speed of Nathan, Eric, Mitchell and Ryan kept them out of the end zone, stopping them at the 5-yd line. The Spartans offense fizzled and had to punt on 4th down from the 8-yd line. “The Foot” (Jesse C.) got off a great punt but the Hoosiers made a great return for the score (6-6). They scored the extra point making it 6-7. The Spartans set up for the kick off return, as time was becoming a factor. The offense took over at mid-field. The offensive line of Jordan, Drew, Jesse, Nick, Tad, Jake and Nathan where set to clear the way for Eric, Jacob, Mitchell, & Ryan. The Spartans ran right with Mitchell for a short gain. Then a QB sweep by Eric for a gain of 10. Another short gain on 3rd down, setting up a 4th and long with 1:20 on the clock. The Spartans QB hands off to the Tailback in an attempt to get the first down. It’s The “Speedster” Ryan breaking up field behind the great blocking running for a 35-yd. touchdown. The Spartans set up a quick pass right to Jacob for the extra point but the Hoosiers stopped them. With 30 seconds left after the kickoff, the Hoosiers got off a great play to the outside with some great running. As the runner cut back “Big Nick’ was their to make the final play by grabbing the flag. Both Teams played an awesome game!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We can not express enough how proud we are of these young men! They gave 100% every week and showed why they will be successful in “The Game of Life”.

Hey Spartans!!! Just wanted to let you all know that we are really proud of you all for doing such a great job on Sat morn. You went up against some pretty talented and big guys but still didn't back down. Defense just looked awesome, the front line gave a lot of pressure to the QB and the D-backs demonstrated great coverage. I believe this is the 5th week in a row with out giving up a offensive touchdown. Offense looked just as good going against that monster defense of the Wildcats, but still showed that we can move the ball with the great speed and wonderful blocking that we posses. The pass and catch was awesome for the only score of the game. You guys show great enthusiasm and character every week, along with great intensity. Again Great job guys and we look forward to seeing you all Thursday night for our final game. The weather doesn't look promising so dress warm. It's been a great season and we look forward to putting the icing on the cake. Remember the banquet Sat. at the High School, should be around 12:30 following the 7th & 8th grade superbowl.

Another great game by the Spartans!!!! You guys played a really good Badger football team and never gave an inch. A 0 to 0 football game is a rarity and a tribute to our players and defense. You guys now know what it means when someone says "it was a tough game". The neat thing is that everyone contributed. I know you guys were tired but you should be very proud of your team and your performance. You are all learning a lot and it shows, I think you guys are the best team in the league. Everyone will get 7 stickers this week because you guys worked as a team to stop the Badgers. Rest up for Practice guys and do good in school this week. We have a few new moves to show you.

Great Game Spartans!!! You guys are all really good football players. The Wolverines are a good football team and you guys really played a great game as a team. Everyone had to do a good job and everyone did. Jesse had a really great game being everywhere, along with Tyler, Nathan, Mitchel and Bryan, who each got at least one flag. I'm thinking the whole team will get 6 stickers, Jessy, Tyler, Nathan and Bryan will al get 8. Watch this web site for pictures of the game, they should post them sometime this week. We look forward to the Thursday practice so we can show you guys more moves and practice the ones we already taught you. Thanks guys for trying so hard when it was very cold out. Thanks parents also for your great support at the games and practices.

Another great game by the Spartans!!! I hope all of you are having fun because the coaches sure are! You guys put on a great football game Saturday. Defensively you guys are great at stopping the other team from scoring and offensively we had 2 td's and should have had 2 more. WOW!!! All players have been listening & learning and it shows, you have been playing like a team. Everyone one will get at least 6 stickers at practice on Thursday because everyone on the team played a great game!!!!!!!!! Drew and Eric had super great games, both were very big part of the team this week. Eric at quarter back and Drew on offensive line and middle line backer. We are very very proud of the whole team and are honored to be coaching such a great group of football players. Rest up this week guys and have a good week in school. You deserve it.

Practice is going great!!!! We are starting to narrow down the players for their positions. The offensive line are very fast learners, the QB, backs and receivers are catching on fast. The team is looking sharp in our Spartan Green helmets and shirts, keep up the hard work in practice. Dads, thanks for the help as practice dummies.
