DOLPHINS DOWN BILLS FOR THIRD STRAIGHT VICTORY
The enthusiastic Bills came to Village Park ready and prepared Thursday evening
but that wasn't enough to stop the steamroller known as the Dolphins. A big-play
offense and a dominating defense resulted in the Dolphins' 25-0 victory, the
team's third in a row. In contrast to Tuesday's game, where the Dolphins used a
ball-control offense, Thursday's game demonstrated the Dolphins' quick-strike
potential. Jacob "The Jet" Flegner scored two touchdowns on long runs
and returned the second-half kickoff for another score. QB Colin "The
Rocket" Smith connected with Jeremy "I Can Go All The Way"
Oleniczak, who used his speed to turn a 15-yard pass play into a 40-yard
touchdown. On defense, lineman Tylor "The Tiger" Hallett spent much of
the night in the Bills' backfield making play after play. Linemen Dayton
"Too Tall" Hoell, Josh "I'm The Man" LeGrand, Conner
"Full Power" Sauer, and Jeremy "Too Quick" Swick shut down
the Bills' running game. The Dolphins' attacking defense also forced four
turnovers. Flegner intercepted two passes, while Smith and Craig "Get Out
Of My Way" Klemencic each had a pick apiece. The Dolphins "D"
held the opponent to no first downs for the second straight game. "The boys
were really focused and determined tonight. They're really concentrating on the
fundamentals and they understand the concept of teamwork. Even when we did a lot
of substituting in the second half, the boys knew exactly where to be,"
said Coach Dan and Coach Larry. A reminder that there will be no practice on
Saturday. Our next practice will be on Monday from 5:15 to 6:45.

DOLPHINS DEFEAT RAIDERS FOR SECOND STRAIGHT VICTORY
The Dolphins continued their winning ways by using a ball control offense and a suffocating defense to down the Raiders 12-0 Tuesday night. Using a balanced offense of rushing and passing, the Dolphins controlled the game and the clock with long drives. Rifle-armed quarterback Colin Smith connected with Nathan "See You Later" Maurer for the game's first score. The upfront blocking of Dayton Hoell, Mike McGinnis, Conner Sauer, Jeremy Swick, and Josh Vanroo provided protection for Smith and opened big holes for the ground game. Running repeatedly to daylight were Tim "Call Me The Breeze" Drees, Jacob "The Jet" Flegner, Derrick "The Great" Gramoll, and fullback Craig "Get Out Of My Way" Klemencic. A ten-yard touchdown run by Klemencic in the second half sealed the Dolphins' second straight victory. On defense, the Dolphins were simply dominant. Not only did the Dolphins' "D" not give up a score, they held the Raiders to no first downs. The defensive line of Josh LeGrand, Hoell, Sauer, Swick, and Vanroo was immovable. Linebackers Caleb Brose and Tylor Hallett helped stuff the Raiders' running game. The Raiders' passing game was rendered null and void by the blanket coverage of Mike "Nothing Gets By Me" McGinnis, who thwarted a Raider drive with an interception, Nathan Maurer, and Jeremy "I Can Go All The Way" Oleniczak. Sacks and "tackles" in the backfield were recorded by Flegner, Gramoll, Hoell, Klemencic, Smith, and Vanroo. A long punt return by Oleniczak, which led to the Dolphins' second score, highlighted the special teams play. "Even with the slow start, the boys still have their sights on a winning record. They're practicing hard and they're playing hard. You can see the improvement from week to week, and that's more important than wins and loses," said Coach Dan and Coach Larry. Just a reminder, because we play two games this week, there will be no practice on Saturday. The next practice will be on Monday, Oct. 15, from 5:15 to 6:45.

DOLPHINS BREAK THROUGH FOR FIRST VICTORY OF THE SEASON
The Dolphins' potent offense finally played up to it's potential and posted three touchdowns in a hard-fought 18-14 victory over the Jets on Tuesday evening. The Dolphins, who feature a balanced attack of rushing and passing, had moved the ball quite well in their first two games but simply could not put the ball into the end zone. After a good week of practice, the Dolphins entered Tuesday's tussle determined to turn things around against the Jets. Quarterback Colin Smith, playing like a young Donovan McNabb, threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. In the first two games, Smith's favorite targets have been Jeremy Oleniczak, Dayton Hoell, and Tim Drees. On Tuesday, Smith hooked up again and again with Nathan Maurer, who had a break out game with four catches and two touchdowns. The Dolphins' ground game featuring shifty halfback Jacob Flegner and fullback Craig Klemencic, a mini Mike Alstott, kept the Jets' defense off balance. The versatile offensive line--Dayton Hoell, Mike McGinnis, Conner Sauer, Jeremy Swick, and Josh Vanroo--displayed their run and pass blocking abilities, and got stronger as the game wore on. For the third straight game, the Dolphins' defense held the opponents scoreless in the second half. Outside linebackers Caleb Brose and Derrick Gramoll helped contain the Jets' powerful rushing game in the second half. The defensive line rotation of Josh LeGrand, Hoell, Klemencic, Sauer, and Swick, took control of the line of scrimmage and allowed middle linebackers Flegner and Smith and free safety Oleniczak to make numerous "tackles." "It was a total team effort," said Coach Dan and Coach Larry. "We were fortunate to win because the Jets are a well disciplined team and their blocking was very impressive." The Dolphins play two games next week. On Tuesday (10/9), the Dolphins play the Raiders at 6 p.m. On Thursday (10/11), the game that was originally scheduled for Sept. 11th against the Bills will be played at 8 p.m. Here's the practice schedule for the remainder of the season: Oct. 6th (Sat.)--9:30-11:30; Oct. 8th (Mon.)--5:30-7:00; Oct. 15th (Mon.)--5:15-6:45 (note the time change--it will be getting darker earlier then)
