The Steelers are crowned "SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS" as they defeat an awesome Packer team 26 to 6. They played on the Hamilton High School football field, Saturday morning. Kameron Cerroni put the Steelers in excellent field position for their first series, by returning the kick off to the 22yard line. The Packers made 4 huge defensive plays to stop the Steelers, and to take over on downs. It was the Steelers' turn to make some big plays on defense and stop the Packers. That is exactly what they did.- Bobby "The Burner" Wiedenfeld, and Erik "The Stopper" Barbar, both made huge plays to stop the Packer runners for losses. The next big play was made by Michael "The Road Runner" Ruminski, who was not fooled by a misdirection pass play, and deflected the pass. The Steeler curtain forced a punt, and the Steelers' offense took the field. This time, the offense would not come up empty. With great blocking by a very solid front line, consisting of: Tanner "Bad Boy" Brown, Adam "The Crusher" Coston, Joe "The Blocking Machine" Dummar, AJ "The Toe" Fotsch, and Max "The Ax" Anschutz, the Steelers were able to move the football. Johnny "The Jet" Cording was able to put the finishing touches on the drive, with a 37 yard touchdown scamper. The Steelers were able to convert the 2point conversion, when Kameron Cerroni found Sam "I Am" Verhulst, all alone in the middle of the end zone. After an excellent kick off by "The Toe," the STEEL curtain went to work. After 2 great plays, by Nick "The Hammer" Klein, and Steve "The Steadyman" Radcliffe, the play of the game happened. Zach "Attack" Herriges was able to intercept a pass, and race for a 57 yard touchdown, to give the Steelers a 14-0 lead. The Packers would not go away empty handed. They answered that score with a 35yard touchdown drive of their own, and were able to cut the Steeler lead down to 14-6. The Steelers answered right back on the next drive as Brian "Crazy Legs" Gryszkiewicz, raced 38 yards on an inside reverse to close out the scoring in the 1st half. The Steelers were able to score one more time in the 2nd half, when "The Jet" found the corner and raced 41yards for the final score of the game. The Steeler coaches, players, and parents would like to congratulate the Packers on a great season. WHAT A GREAT SUPERBOWL GAME! Every player played thier heart out, and they need to be congratulated. For the Steelers, they accomplished a goal that they should be extremely proud of: SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS!! The weather was beautiful and the match up was awesome - The Cowboys 3 and 1. The Steelers 4 and 0. A game that was touted as a key match up disappointed no one as two very strong teams battled on Thursday night. When the dust finally settled the Steelers found themselves on the winning end of an 18 to 0 score. The game started as the Cowboys kicked off to the Steelers and it was a strong Cowboy defense that forced the Steelers to punt. After exchanging punts on the first two possessions of the game Kameron Cerroni was able to return a Cowboy punt 45 yards to the 15 yard line. He was sprung by key blocks from Nick "The Hammer" Klein, Eric "The Stopper" Barbar, and Mike "The Roadrunner" Ruminski. The Steelers were able to find the endzone two plays later when Sam "I Am" Verhulst caught a 10 yard TD pass from Kam. The offense was outstanding on that series stopping the Cowboys from putting pressure on the QB. The line was once again led by Tanner "Bad Boy" Brown, AJ "The Toe" Fotsch, Max Anschutz, Adam "The Crusher" Coston, and Joe "The Blocking Machine" Dumman. The Steelers were unable to convert on the extra point. After the kick off the Steelers held on 4 plays to end the half. There were many defensive standouts in the first half including Brian "Crazy Legs" Gryszkiewcz who had 2 huge 3rd down sacks. Bobby "The Burner" Wiedenfeld and Zach "Attack" Herriges who controlled the line of scrimmage and made a number of great plays. In the second half the Steelers were able to hold the Cowboys on the first series and after forcing a punt the offense went to work. Johnny "The Jet" Cording was able to gain positive yardage on numerous plays with the biggest play coming on a 55 yard touchdown run. Again the offensive line was outstanding. "The Jet" was able to find the end zone one more time in the second half on a 48 yard TD run. The "D" was also solid in the second half. Steve "The Saftey" Radcliffe was outstanding at his defensive back position. He played his position perfectly and was able to break up numerous passes down field. The Steelers need to be congratulated on a very fine performace against a solid Cowboy team. The Steelers' concentrated on both sides of the football extremely well and everyone did their job. The table is set for a show down with the Colts on Tuesday night. The winner will be crowned the AFC Champion and earn a berth in the SUPERBOWL on Saturday, October 27!!!!! It does not get any better than this!!!! The Steelers will have to prepare very hard and be mentally and physically ready for an extremely talented and well coached Colts team. The coaches and parents know the Steeler players will be ready for this challenge!!! Don't Miss It!!! Go STEELERS!!!!!
