On Saturday, June 13, the Sussex Lions Club made a meaningful contribution to the community by donating funds to support an Eagle Scout project led by Logan Growth of Troop 175. This project involved installing 30 artificial fish structures in the new Village Park pond. The Sussex Lions Club sponsored the materials, and Logan, along with his troop members, built and installed all 30 structures. This effort not only supports local wildlife but also enriches the recreational and environmental value of Village Park.

The Importance of Artificial Fish Structures
Artificial fish structures provide essential habitats for fish and other aquatic life. These structures create shelter, breeding grounds, and feeding areas that help maintain a healthy and balanced ecosystem in ponds and lakes. In new or restored ponds, natural habitats may be limited, so adding these structures supports fish populations and encourages biodiversity.
In Village Park, the pond is a new feature for both wildlife and visitors. By installing artificial fish structures, Logan and his troop have enhanced the pond’s environment, making it more inviting for fish species to thrive.
How the Sussex Lions Club Made a Difference
The Sussex Lions Club has a long history of supporting community projects that improve local quality of life. By funding the materials, the Lions Club enabled Logan and his troop to focus on the construction and installation process. This partnership highlights how community organizations and youth groups can work together to achieve meaningful environmental goals.
This project not only improved the pond but also gave the scouts practical experience in project management and environmental conservation.
